Tip number 1 about Magnetic Lasso Tool is, if you are selecting an object and you pointer goes far away from your object creating new anchor points where you want them to be. Would you press ESC and start a new selection? If yes then don’t do it. You can delete recent anchor points by using Del key on the keyboard. It will keep deleting anchor points from the most recent to the first if you keep pressing Del key. You can also use Backspace for the same purpose.

Do you know there are two icons for Magnetic Lasso Tool? Yes there are… Many of guys don’t know it! First select Magnetic lasso tool and then press Caps Lock key on the keyboard and you will see the other icon of magnetic lasso tool.It is used for more accuracy in the selection. We learned in the last tutorial about the Pen Width option in Photoshop tool options. This tool exactly tells Photoshop where to look for the edges. The bigger the size of Pen Width option bigger will be the size of the icon and also the area will be increased where it will look for edges.

You can use the free hand Lasso Tool anytime by holding Alt key on PC or Option Key on Mac and when you want to revert back to using Magnetic Lasso Tool, release Alt key! You can also use Polygonal Lasso Tool. While using Magnetic Lasso Tool hold Alt Key if you are using Pc or Option key n Mac, Click (don’t drag) at some point and you will see the polygonal lasso tool icon appearing instead of magnetic lasso tool.

After making first selection down Shift key and make another selection if you want to Add the new selection to existing selection. To subtract new selection from existing selection, hold Alt/Option key while making new selection
